STATE REGULATIONS
P.L. 19 (1990): established a waste tire management fund to pay for clean-up
of tire dumps where the responsible party is unknown or cannot afford cleanup.
P.L. 236 (1991): modified waste tire management fund requirements, required study of asphalt rubber, requires transporter registration and manifesting of scrap tire shipments.
P.L. 88 (1992): established a registration system for storage of waste tires. Also required the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) to write standards for tire storage site registration and transporter registration.
P.L. 32 (1993): amended use of funds to allow grants. Established $0.25 per new tire sale fee.
MAJOR MARKETS
Two cement kilns are testing TDF as a supplemental fuel. One electric generating
facility has tested TDF. Largest ground rubber producer in US is located in
Indiana. State assistance grant has been provided to pyrolysis facility.
